The 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour

Tuesday, November 24, 2009

Introduction

The 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour is further proof that no automotive segment that can not be cut into small pieces. The Crosstour is 4-door hatchback version of the Accord, and with a slightly raised ride height and available all-wheel drive, Honda will call it a crossover. Aimed at empty nesters and young families, for services as a field, cargo-centric and even more subtle than the Accord's an awkward shape? Honda invited us for a test drive to find out. We found Crosstour to become a good driver, and think that Honda will probably sell 40,000 copies, said to each year. But that's not all roses, so here are 10 things you need to know about the 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour.
1. This is not a version of Honda Acura ZDX.

Recently, the luxury car division of Honda, Acura, introduce a vehicle that looked similar, ZDX. Crosstour Like 2010 Honda Accord, which aimed to empty nest type who wants to throw additional equipment in the back, but does not require three full lines crossover exploded. As Crosstour, is also charged with an additional layer of repair. However, based on MDX ZDX platform, and very similar dimensions. Crosstour based on the Accord sedan, and closer to the vehicle. Although they seem shallow, ZDX and actually quite different Crosstour under the skin.
2. Looks better in person.

We're not going to declare 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour a beautiful car. However, do not get something in someone lost in the picture, and it seems pretty good from several angles. But the nose was heavy, the rear of the residence was too round, and slightly raised ride height make the car look bigger than they really are. On the other hand, there are some interesting design details, such as convex concave character line gradually became rear fender tip. In it much better, essentially an Accord sedan with a few tasteful (but fake) wood trim, and nicer skins available.
3. This is especially more peaceful than the Accord Sedan.

Honda adds a few extra votes to kill Crosstour, so mainly quieter than the Accord sedan is based. You see most of this highway speeds. While Sedan tires tend to be filled with noise, quiet enough Crosstour is that additional wind noise clearly. They are not fun though, and the overall need to drive Crosstour great friend for the long term.
4. There are 4-cylinder option.
Honda says that they do not offer 4-cylinder that will bump only marginal fuel economy, and not enough people will buy it. Maybe. However, we do not think there are 4-cylinder that Honda does not just make one big enough to move Crosstour with authority. The 271-horsepower V6 Crosstour is approximately 300 pounds heavier than the Accord V6 sedan, so it is easy to assume a 4-cylinder will Crosstour weighed about the same number more than 4-cylinder Accord. 4-Banger's largest range of Honda is only 2.4 liters, and only 162 lb.-ft. torque. In contrast, rival Toyota Venza's 4-Banger has 182 lb.-ft. torque, and still feels soft.
5. Visibility is very bad back.

Like most of the slope-backed car today, 2010 Honda Accord hard enough Crosstour rear visibility. Blaming the thick rear pillars, narrow hatched and the relatively small rear side windows. Honda has tried to compensate with additional glass panel at the bottom of the hatch. While undoubtedly helpful, there is no overcoming the fact that only Crosstour hard to look back. A glass of the camera is available, but only as an option on more expensive models.
6. This is more fun than the Toyota Venza.
Honda Accord-based Crosstour clearly aimed at the Camry-based Venza. However, the philosophy of the two car makers in the game, too. Venza is a quieter and more isolated, but Crosstour more fun to drive. Now, before you think that you will Crosstour next autocross car, all of this relative. Crosstour winding roads handled well, thanks to the traditional Honda suspension tuning is stronger and sharper steering. Programming transmission cars and even ordered to hold the equipment when in the corner, for sportier feel. Unfortunately, all-wheel drive system is only for low-traction situations, not to improve handling, and Honda is mysteriously drowned the most harmonious sound that comes from the V6 engine, making engine sounds great when really boring.
7. It gets decent gas mileage.

Although only Crosstour come with V6, it still gets pretty good gas mileage, but not class leading. A forward got Crosstour drive 18 mpg city, 27 mpg highway and 21 mpg combined; all-wheel drive makes you 17/25/20. Highway Venza beat score by 1 mpg for the front drivers, but the game on all-wheel drive versions. In some cities, which still has the edge Venza, defeating Crosstour score by 1 mpg on the front and all-wheel drive configurations. Nissan Murano - Other sedan-based crossover vehicle - the game was in town, but on the road losing value by 4 and 2 mpg mpg for the front and all-wheel drive models, respectively.
8. Cargo space on the small side.

Although a large hatch and large, round back housing, cargo space on the small side compared to other vehicles in this class. With the rear seats up, there were 25.7 cu. ft. of cargo space by folding the rear seat is 51.3. Sounds good, but Crosstour narrow cargo area, and suffer from an extreme angle cargo itself. Conversely, a relatively boxier Venza offers up to 34.4 cu. ft. behind the rear seat, and the relative loss of 70.1 with the seats folded. The Murano also significantly larger, with 31.6 cu. ft. and 64.0 cu. feet, respectively.
9. This has many good features.
Maybe you think we Crosstour bashing. We do not, really. The Crosstour has a lot to offer. For example, it offers a healthy dose of standard equipment that is usually reserved for vehicles, the higher end, such as dual-zone climate control or 360-watt audio system. If you choose for your skin to get a premium, luxury quality leather, and even a USB audio system with better integration for your iPod. Then there is a reversible cargo floor in the area, which allows you to place the goods in the hold ground without worrying about marring your carpet looped. Under the storage box behind the panel, which not only keep valuables out of sight, but also actually lifts out for cleaning.
10. For something called "Accord," a little expensive.
Honda Accord built a reputation for good value, but the 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour slightly more expensive than the 4-door sedan cousin. A front-wheel drive Crosstour EX - base model - out for the purpose of entry costs $ 30,380 plus $ 710 price increase fast enough, too: the front-drive EX with leather (EX-L) is $ 33,280, and if you add the navigation you see $ 35,480. An all-wheel drive EX-L is $ 34,730, and if you add the navigation is $ 36,930. Compare that to regular Accord sedans, and even the most expensive - an EX-L with navigation - still came to only $ 31,815. So the question is: Is Crosstour offer extra few thousand dollars of repair, cargo space and style? We're not entirely sure, but time will tell
